At Qué Bueno Bakery, we seek to provide high-quality, allergy-friendly baked goods that you can trust.
Back when our oldest kiddo was nine months old, we gave her formula for the first time and ended up in Dell Children’s Emergency Room. Not our best day. After tests we found out she was/is allergic to dairy, eggs, peanuts, and tree nuts. So began our very complicated journey into food allergies.
Learning how to navigate life with food allergies is tough. Life revolves so much around food. And as she gets older and goes through new stages of childhood development, it’s made that much harder by her constant struggle with feelings of being different, set apart, “not normal”, excluded.
I got tired of that very quickly and decided I would learn how to make everything allergy-friendly so that she could eat anything that she wanted. I’ve been baking without dairy, eggs, and peanuts/tree nuts for seven years. And while our daughter doesn’t know what cupcakes taste like when made with butter and eggs, we do, so the only recipes that pass muster around here are ones that also taste delicious to us.
Fast forward to 2016. It was a rough year for our country and it ended with so much divisiveness. I think many people sat back and wondered what they could do to move forward. To love more. To listen more. To come together more. I did this, too. What can I do to break down barriers in my community? What can I do to include those that feel excluded? I can make them a cupcake. That’s what I can do. And if that doesn’t spread joy, I don’t know what does.
Also, as I come from a long line of Mexican mothers, this helps my perpetual need to feed ALL THE PEOPLE, ALL THE TIME, ha!
All of our products are dairy-free, egg-free, peanut-free, and tree nut-free. Most are vegan. Some are gluten-free. Other allergies omitted upon request.
We know how hard it can be to trust other people to bake for you if you or your loved one has food allergies. If you would like to chat about what we do in our kitchen to prevent allergen cross-contamination as much as possible, please contact us. We love talking food allergies and we want you to be 100% comfortable with our products.
We strive to do our best to prevent allergen cross-contamination but all allergens are present in our kitchen. This is equivalent to the labeling: These items are manufactured in the same facility where wheat, dairy, egg, tree nut, peanut are used and made on the same equipment.
Qué Bueno Bakery is a cottage food bakery authorized by the State of Texas under 2011’s S.B. 81 and 2013’s H.B. 970 meaning we offer our food directly to you. We’re legit.
